Jaguars OTAs: Mike Harris not bothered by competition

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars front office set out to make the team uncomfortable this offseason, that is making it tough to make the final roster. Second-year cornerback Mike Harris isn't concerned with how many people come and go in the building however, just with making the final roster.

"I can't control who comes and who goes," Harris told the Florida Times-Union. "That's not my job. My job is to come in, work hard and play fast."

Harris was forced into the lineup during the 2012 season as a rookie sixth-round draft pick due to injuries at the position. He wound up starting six games during the latter part of the season and was one of the few bright spots on the defense. Harris wasn't lights out on the field, but he brought some consistency to the position and looks to have a promising future.

Harris is getting adjusted to the new defensive scheme however, where he'll be competing with veteran Marcus Trufant for the "starting" nickel position.

"I'm getting most of my work inside at nickel, which is what I expected, and it's one of the things I do best," Harris told the Times-Union. "Inside, it's pretty much a press concept, but with more zone than I did last year."
