Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew has been charged with misdemeanor battery.

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew has been charged with battery stemming from his incident at the Conch House restaurant in St. Augustine, according to a police report that Big Cat Country has obtained.

The official charge is for misdemeanor battery that occurred during the Conch House's "Reggae Sundays" over the weekend. Jones-Drew allegedly knocked out a security guard at the restaurant, hitting him in the side of the head and leaving the Conch House before the police arrived.

According to a statement from a witness, Jones-Drew punched a security guard in the face after the guard put Jones-Drew's friend in a headlock to pull him from the area to stop an altercation with another Conch House staff member. Jones-Drew's friend, who is unnamed, was asked to stop touching a female customer and pushing began to occur.

According to another witness to the incident, Jones-Drew was part of a group of guests who were being "unruly" and asked to calm down and later asked to leave the Conch House.

I attempted to contact someone at the Conch House for more on the story, but my call was bounced around and finally directed to a voicemail.

The Jaguars are aware of the incident, but at this time have not yet issued a statement.

TMZ originally reported this story.
