Marcus Trufant visiting Jaguars, per report

Otto Greule Jr

The Jacksonville Jaguars are hosting free agent cornerback Marcus Trufant on Tuesday, according to a report by Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union. Trufant, 32, spent his entire career with the Seattle Seahawks after being drafted by the team with the 11th overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft.

Trufant played under Gus Bradley the past four seasons and the new Jaguars head coach is apparently interested in bringing on a veteran defensive back who knows his system.

The Jaguars are exceedingly young at the cornerback position, with just Alan Ball (28), Mike Harris (24), and Antwaun Molden (28) as veterans at the position. Trufant would add another veteran presence to a secondary filled with rookies and add a player who knows Gus Bradley's system and what he expects players to do.

Typically I scoff at the "veteran teacher" notion with older players, but Trufant is someone we guessed the Jaguars could be interested in bringing because he's familiar with the defensive scheme.

For Seattle in 2012, Trufant played the slot corner role, logging just over 400 snaps.
