Roy Miller injury: Jaguars DT working way back

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed defensive tackle Roy Miller to a two-year deal in the offseason during NFL free agency, but he's yet to play a down in practice for the team. Miller, who's being held out of practice with what the team is calling tendonitis in the knee, has had his knee heavily wrapped and has drawn some concern going forward.

"We have a new return-to-play protocol. We instituted it with our athletic training and our strength and conditioning. And that is if a guy has an injury we have baseline tests, now come out, work him through it, see how he comes back with his baseline tests and then work him back into it slowly, so it’s more precaution," Jaguars coach Gus Bradley told the media after practice on Wednesday.

It's only May and there shouldn't be too much concern for the Jaguars and Miller, especially with the team having claimed Kyle Love off waivers who offers the same type of play as Miller.

"I think that you’ve seen that with, knock on wood if there’s any here, it’s starting to take place and you’re starting to see guys come back because of it so we’ve done a lot of research on that. I give credit to Dave and our strength and conditioning and staff to come up with a policy that will help keep guys on the field," Bradley continued.

As long as Miller is ready to go by the time the NFL preseason rolls around, it shouldn't really be an issue at all.
