Jordan Todman makes most of his reps at running back

USA TODAY Sports

Jordan Todman got the start for the Jaguars on Friday at running back and made the most of his shot.

Jordan Todman started for the Jaguars at running back on Friday against the Miami Dolphins, filling in for Maurice Jones-Drew and Justin Forsett who were both held out by the team. He ended the day with six carries for 45 yards, including a 26-yard gain.

"He did a nice job," Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley said on Saturday. "That one series that we ended with an interception by Blaine (Gabbert), the one that we had in there, and Todman and Denard Robinson had some nice runs."

Depth was a major concern for the Jaguars at running back last year, as it seemed like they were signing a new player every week at the position. Todman, who was with the team last year, is making the most of his opportunity so far.

"I just talked to him before the team meeting and he said as the game went on it felt like I was adjusting to the speed right away," said Bradley. "Gained confidence as the game went on like ‘Hey this was pretty good, I can do this and I can play and make some things happen’. That’s what happens with some of those young guys now."

Todman would seem to have an inside track on making the Jaguars final 53-man roster, as he's shown up consistently in practice which has translated a bit to the preseason so far.
