Many fans believe the Jag’s QB of the future is not on the team today. Blain Gabbert, entering his third season as the Jaguar’s QB has yet to give fans a reason to believe he can be an NFL franchise QB. In fairness to Gabbert he has had 3 different coaches, and had to learn 3 different systems in 3 years in the NFL.
Chad Henne has shown Jags fans the same things on the field that frustrated Miami fans for four seasons. At times Henne has looked like a long-terms solution to the Jags QB dilemma, other times he has looked like a guy who should be 3rd string.
The Jaguars are expected to improve from their 2 and 14 record last season. Last season was the worst in team history. The Jaguars were not even competitive in many games, losing by more than double digits 8 times. Even though the Jags are expected to improve expectations are still low.
So who should play QB for the Jags? I believe Gabbert should be the starter for the Jaguars this season. We have seen enough of Henne to know that he is just a guy. With expectations being low for the Jags, I say give Gabbert this season to prove if he can play. If Gabbert shows something they can build on good. If Gabbert stinks it up like he has in the past, the Jags know they need to get their QB in the NFL Draft.
I say give Gabbert this season to see what he can do with a solid O-line and MJD in the backfield.
What say you?
