Jaguars WR Ace Sanders was a draft target for Rams

Logan Bowles - Void Magazine

The St. Louis Rams had Ace Sanders as a draft day target, if they weren't able to land Tavon Austin.

The Jacksonville Jaguars were able to land wide receiver Ace Sanders at the top of the fourth-round of the 2013 NFL Draft, but according to Peter King of Sports Illustrated, Sanders was highly thought of by a handful of teams. In his latest edition of Monday Morning Quarterback, King asserts that had the St. Louis Rams not been able to secure wide receiver Tavon Austin, they were prepared to target Sanders in the draft.

During draft prep in St. Louis, the Rams privately knew if they somehow weren't able to get Austin, they'd have gone after Sanders, who is emerging in camp as the kind of versatile weapon Jacksonville hoped it was drafting last April.

It's no surprise that a team who wanted Austin would also target Sanders, as they're similar style of players. Both win in small areas with their quickness and change of direction, and are explosive with the ball in space. Austin obviously has better top-end speed, but Sanders is already pushing himself to first-team reps for the Jaguars.
