G- Geoff Schwartz- Schwartz is veteran guard who has experience in the zone blocking scheme he’s an upgrade over what we have and should come cheap.
DE/LEO- Michael Johnson- Johnson is a very good defensive end who excels at run defense and pass rushing. The Jags desperately needs legit pass rushing threat that has to be accounted for. We might have to break the bank for Johnson but he fits the scheme and he’s only 27.
DE/3TECH- Arthur Jones- Jones is a huge defensive end who would is good a run defense at would give us someone to rotate along the defensive line as well as with Tyson Alualu. He also should come cheap and he’s only 26
DT- Linval Joseph- Joseph is a huge DT who has incredible strength. One of the things the Jags lacked this season was a unmovable rock in the middle of the defense; someone who can overpower one on one blocks up, and free up the rest of the defense. Joseph would do just that and immediately improve the run defense. He also only 25 and would probably demand a price tag somewhere in the Sen' Derrick Marks range.
CB- Vontae Davis- You might be thinking our defensive backfield wasn't bad this year and it wasn't, but Davis has elite level ability and hasn't peaked yet and he’s only 25. He’s an improvement over the corners we have now he excels in press coverage, and could really push the Jags secondary into another level. We will have to pay a high price for Davis, but I do think we could get away with paying him in the top 8-12 corners in the league range.
Round 1 Pick 3- Johnny Manziel QB Texas A&M- I think Manziel would be coming into the perfect situation in Jacksonville. He gets a coach who’s just as passionate about football as him, the cupboard isn't bear on the Jacksonville offense, and he’s a versatile player coming to play for a very creative offensive coordinator. The thing I like about Manziel is while he’s good at everything he still has tons of room to grow. He doesn't have a cannon arm if I were to compare his arm to QB’s in the NFL I would put his arm strength in the Matt Ryan, Drew Brees, Philip Rivers category. He has amazing pocket awareness and the ability to escape and make big plays with his feet or arm. I think these traits could make him something special.
Round 2 Pick 7 Tre Mason RB Auburn- Mason to me is MJD’s clone. They’re both short running backs with thick builds and physical styles of running. With the Departure of MJD it would help to get a talented running back to grow with the Manziel. A lot of people say you can get a good running back in the later rounds but running backs who get drafted in the first and second rounds are drafted their for a reason they're usually more talented than the backs drafted after them.
Round 3 Pick 6 Donte Moncreif WR Ole Miss- Young QB add more weapons. Moncrief is a big bodied physical receiver who has the speed to stretch the field, and the ability to go up and get the contested catch. With Justin Blackmon's future in doubt it would be wise to get a talented wide receiver to replace him. If Blackmon does come back it’s just more weapons for the new QB.
Round 4 Pick 5 Carl Bradford OLB Arizona State- Bradford is an extremely versatile linebacker who can play the run the pass and rush the passer and do them all well. I think he would fit well playing the same role Bruce Irvin does in Seattle, while also giving us an athletic boost at linebacker.
Round 4 Pick 19 Tyler Larsen C Utah State- The Jags interior line play was terrible this year and with Brad Meester gone it’s a huge whole. Larsen is an athletic strong center who we could plug and play day 1. He’s a boast over what we had and he gets to develop with his young QB.
Round 5 Pick 4 Brandon Linder G Miami- A depth pick but could eventually become a starter Uche Nwaneri is getting older and his play has declined after a rash of injuries. If the Nweneri doesn't show he can stay healthy and play better next year he could be supplanted by the huge Linder. Linder is a mauler who is super strong, and is solid in pass protection.
Round 5 Pick 10 Larry Webster DE/LEO Bloomsburg- Webster is a developmental prospect who is extremely athletic for his size 6’6 250 and could develop into a very good rotational player on the defensive line. Webster and Ryan Davis could battle it out for the third LEO spot in training camp.
Round 5 Pick 18 J.C Copeland FB LSU- You guys are probably thinking this guy wants to draft a fullback. Yes I Do! Jacksonville wants to be an extremely physical team on offense and defense and physical teams can run the ball. If you look at the teams who run the ball best they all have great blocking fullbacks (49ers Bruce Miller, Seattle Seahawks Michael Robinson). Copeland can also catch the ball out of the backfield and be a short yardage back and at 280+ pounds the guys a load to bring down.
Round 6 Pick 3 Eathyn Manumaluena DT BYU- A DT who can stuff the run and pass rush needs to refine his technique and can be coached up into a contributor in the D line rotation.
Round 7 Pick 7 Kevin Pierre-Louis OLB Boston College- An athletic linebacker who is undersized for the position he could sit behind Hayes or Allen and get bigger and stronger and supplant them next season.
