For you soccer fans, there seems to be some good news coming our way!!!! Shortly after the victory over South Korea, reports came out that the USMNT was looking to play two more state side friendlies before the World Cup. ESPN reported that Klinsman was looking to play a match in California, same place as the South Korea friendly, and then one in Florida. The report states that Jacksonville is the leading contender for that friendly. The team they will face is Nigeria. Jacksonville has hosted friendlies before. Both the USWNT and USMNT. Both friendlies, the opponent was Scotland. Back in 2012, US beat Scotland 5-1 with a Landon Donovan hat trick.
There are actually 3 friendlies to be played before the World Cup. We are set to face Ukraine in March, but its in Ukraine. According to ESPN, the two state side friendlies will be held May 27th and June 8th. June 8th will be the Florida friendly and it will be the day before the US leave for Brazil. If we get the friendly, lets sell out the Bank Jaguar fans!!!!!!!!!
As for the opponent, this will be a great test for the US. Our first opponent in the World Cup is Ghana. A very important match and most likely will decide our fate in the World Cup. Playing an African team will surely help the US in preparing for Ghana.
