My son and I have been enjoying the First-Pick site with respect to drafting for the Jaguars. That site, however, seems to grade players a bit oddly which lends to player availability at what seems far too late in the draft. With the recent Fanspeak draft posts I thought I would take their engine for a drive.
My draft expertise is very pedestrian, and by that I mean limited reading or observing of player tape. Some have been observed more than others, which may lend to a bias (UCLA for example). Posting this mock, or any mock, is done primarily to get feedback on the players I selected by those readers who might have better knowledge of them.
The goal was to look for defensive speed and depth. On the offensive side of the ball I wanted at least one new offensive lineman and a play making TE. I fully appreciate the argument that taking Lync might be too much of a luxury pick, however he is someone I have watched more than others and feel he brings a great dimension to the Jaguars vertical game. The same can be said for Mike Davis, though I find him to be a value add.
Reid might be a reach, and Marsh possibly could be had as a UDFA. For the latter his on field attitude could also be a determent, but when his switch is on he is disruptive.
My only gripe is that I could not pull the trigger on an OLB in any round. Two ILB probably won't happen but Dede could be more situational.
I look forward to what you know about these players. If you are interested in how the draft played out you can see it here.
