Sitting on the eve of NFL's first day of free agency, I have to admit I'm scratching my head as to what we're truly going to do in the first couple days of FA if anything. Shad and Dave did a great job last year making sure that we picked up FA's that could contribute but weren't going to cripple the salary cap for years to come. Also we've seen what happens when former GM's and front offices think that the Jaguars are only a couple pieces away and sign some horrible horrible contracts (Drayton Florence, Jerry Porter, and etc), but this team is rebuilding and Gus and Dave have made no qualms about that. This off season though I expected us to compete for some mid teir 1 FA's and possibly a high profile name like Micheal Johnson or Alex Mack. Mack I understand had the transition tag placed on him so that's going to make it harder for teams to sign him away, but why not try? Also Johnson seems to fit what Jacksonville needs as a young pass rusher who can play the LEO and give some pass rushing force on defense. I'm only using these two players as examples but except for Red Bryant who we signed I haven't seen Jacksonville attached to any FA rumors, but maybe Shad and Dave are keepin their cards close to their chest.
