Manny's Mock Draft 1.0 (via First-Pick)

Hey fellow Jag fans!

I've never made a fan post on BCC before. Actually, I have just recently started using BCC and love the site and community! I have been following this 2014 draft more than any previous draft. I believe this is mainly because I had no reason to be excited for the other drafts due to our previous regime and their poor decisions. I really love the direction the team is heading in and trust the decisions of Dave, Gus, and Khan.

Here is my first mock draft and I will be using to simulate the process (keep in mind I am just going with what the simulation gives me):

Round 1 Pick 3: Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina (A):

Houston selected QB Blake Bortles first overall and St. Louis selected OT Jake Matthews second. This means that both QB Teddy Bridgewater and DE Jadeveon Clowney available at pick 3. I don't see the Jaguars passing up on Jadeveon Clowney. There were no trades worth taking at this pick in the simulation. The Jags have made it pretty clear that Chad Henne is the starter going into the 2014 season. I just don't see them getting a QB this early just to sit.

Round 2 Pick 7: Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State (A-):

I think this is when the Jags take their QB. I had a hard time choosing between Derek Carr and Jimmy Garoppolo because I am a bigger fan of Garoppolo. I think the only knock there is on Jimmy is the level of talent he is coming from. The question is whether or not he can develop and adjust to the talent in the NFL, but I believe he can, especially if our plan is to sit a rookie QB their first year. However, I don't believe the Jags will share the same opinion as me. I believe if Derek Carr is on the board, they will draft him as their QB.

Round 3 Pick 6: Marcus Martin, C, Southern California (A):

With Brad Meester retiring, we are in a big need of a center. Marcus Martin was still available at this point so he was the pick.

(Rest were selected by best available with a consideration for our needs)

Round 4 Pick 5: Bruce Ellington, WR, South Carolina (A)

Round 4 Pick 14: Shayne Skov, ILB, Stanford (B)

Round 5 Pick 4: Justin Ellis, DT, Louisiana Tech (B-)

Round 5 Pick 10: Phillip Gaines, CB, Rice (A-)

Round 5 Pick 19: Kevin Norwood, WR, Alabama (C+)

Round 6 Pick 3: Charles Leno, OT, Boise State (A)

Round 6 Pick 29: Jalen Saunders, WR, Oklahoma (A)

Round 7 Pick 7: Logan Thomas, QB, Virginia Tech (D+)

My results according to First-Pick: Your score is: 4495 (Drafting Ability: B-, Player Quality A, Future Draft Picks: N/A)

In conclusion, I don't think this is terrible for my first Mock Draft. I know we need to really build our offense through this draft and that was my idea behind it. It can definitely be improved but it was fun. Grade it and let me know what you think.
