It seems like there is a good chance that the Jaguars will wait until the 2nd or 3rd (or later) round to draft a QB. In my opinion, that would be the best idea for the Jaguars. It would be hard to pass up Clowney or Mack or Watkins with the 3rd overall pick (assuming we don't have/take the opportunity to trade down). I mainly say this because our staff has made it clear that Henne will be our starter going into this next season. It doesn't seem likely that the Jaguars will draft a QB first round to sit behind Henne. By drafting Clowney, Mack, or Watkins, we can potentially have an immediate starter.
With that being said...
Which later round QB do you think is the best pick/fit for the Jaguars?
(assuming Bridgewater, Manziel, and Bortles are off the board by 2nd round)
I am a big fan of Jimmy Garoppolo from Eastern Illinois. He plays smart, is a great leader, and posses many of the traits that Dave described. These traits being: accuracy, throwing with anticipation, and decision making. Dave also seemed to favor a pocket passer with some mobility. I believe Garoppolo is athletic enough to be mobile when he needs to be, but performs best in the pocket. Jimmy's Freaky Fast release and his beautiful fade route are my personal favorite traits. In my opinion, he is the best later round QB for the Jaguars to develop.
