Jaguars sign Chad Henne

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars have re-signed quarterback Chad Henne, as most expected they would before the official start of free agency.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have re-signed veteran quarterback Chad Henne to a two-year deal, according to a report by Mike Garafolo. It's a move most expected the team to make prior to the start of free agency, as the veteran quarterback market is thin and the quarterbacks on the Jaguars roster don't have much experience.

Henne started 13 games for the Jaguars last season, starting all four games the team won on their way to a 4-12 record. Henne finished the season throwing for 3,241 yards with 13 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

Henne originally was beat out for the starting job by Blaine Gabbert in the preseason, but was thrown into the starting lineup almost immediately when Gabbert injured his hand in Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Henne took over as the full time starter in Week 6 against the Denver Broncos, after Gabbert once again suffered another injury against the St. Louis Rams.

Henne's signing doesn't really tip the Jaguars hand one way or another in regards to the NFL Draft and a quarterback. At worst, Henne is a solid backup option for the team going forward.
