I saw an interesting rumor on CNNSI stating the Texans were in negotiations to trade for Mallet from the Pats with a 3rd round pick. Now, what's interesting about this is the fact the Pats have turned down 2nd rounders for him in the past. Also intriguing is the Bill O'Brien connection as he's worked with Mallet previously. If the Texans do this, one would have to logically assume that Clowney goes #1 and the Rams would have a bidding war for #2 for the teams to ensure they get their QB.
Personally, I'd hate to see Clowney and Watt chasing after our new QB (Bridgewater hopefully), but I hope DC has the foresight to establish a strong OL in the event that we have to face Clowney 2x a year for the next 4-5 years. However, if this trade is to take place, I doubt it happens until closer to the draft. What do you guys think about this? Does this ensure we get our QB, provided that's the goal of the front office with the #3 pick? Or does the thought of Mallet + Clowney put the Texans back up on top of the AFC South?
