If the Jaguars Like Teddy Bridgewater, TRADE DOWN! (With Scenarios)

Two weeks into the NFL Draft on May 8th as Jaguars fans like you and I endlessly debate on who should be taken with the coveted number three pick in the draft. Mock drafts everywhere has the Jaguars going everywhere, Jadeveon Clowney, Khalil Mack, Sammy Watkins, and the main attractions in this article, Teddy Bridgewater and Johnny Manziel. Now with Teddy Bridgewater visiting the Jaguars for the second time last Saturday has many thinking, do we really like Teddy Bridgewater? I like Teddy Bridgewater, he has impressed me ever since he beat an unmotivated, but still stellar Florida Gators team in the 2013 Sugar Bowl. He threw over 3,000 yards 30+ TDs and only 3 INTs in his junior campaign, as well as his impressive performance against the Miami Hurricanes in the Russell Athletic Bowl capping over 400 yards and throwing 3 TDs. You can say the same with Johnny F'ing Football in his stellar, but at times risky, performances against teams like the Alabama Crimson Tide and his Chick-Fil-A Bowl comeback performance against the Duke Blue Devils. Leading off to the draft, the Jaguars biggest need is that quarterback position. These two quarterbacks are the two most well-known and accomplished in their individual college careers out of any other quarterbacks in this year's draft. I expect Jadeveon Clowney gone by the number two pick at most (spoiler alert, he goes to Houston) and that leaves the Jaguars with many options at number three. You could go to the intriguing and electrifying potential LEO in Khalil Mack, the speedy Sammy Watkins (Greg Robinson goes number two), or any of the quarterbacks in this draft. If the Jags want a quarterback, they're in luck this year, there's a lot and many teams need guys like Khalil Mack, Sammy Watkins, and Jake Matthews at number 3. I am honestly believing the Jags are going to trade out of that three spot to a team like the Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, or the Detroit Lions that might want Sammy Watkins or Khalil Mack. If Clowney is gone by the time the Jags are picking, I say pile up the draft picks, we need the best players possible in every round.

I want to list some favorable scenarios where the Jags do trade down to the teams I mentioned above in the article:

- (Scenario #1) ATLANTA TRADE:

1. HOU: DE Jadeveon Clowney (South Carolina)

2. STL: OT Greg Robinson (Auburn)

3. ATL: OLB/DE Khalil Mack (Buffalo)

4. CLE: WR Sammy Watkins (Clemson)

5. OAK: OT Jake Matthews (Texas A&M)

6. JAX: QB Teddy Bridgewater (Louisville) / QB Johnny Manziel (Texas A&M)

- (Scenario #2) TAMPA BAY TRADE:

1. HOU: DE Jadeveon Clowney (South Carolina)

2. STL: OT Greg Robinson (Auburn)

3. TB: WR Sammy Watkins (Clemson)

4. CLE: QB Blake Bortles (UCF)

5. OAK: OLB/DE Khalil Mack (Buffalo)

6. ATL: OT Jake Matthews (Texas A&M)

7. JAX: QB Teddy Bridgewater (Louisville) / QB Johnny Manziel (Texas A&M)

- (Scenario #3) DETROIT TRADE:

1. HOU: DE Jadeveon Clowney (South Carolina)

2. STL: OT Greg Robinson (Auburn)

3. DET: WR Sammy Watkins (Clemson)

4. CLE: QB Blake Bortles (UCF)

5. OAK: OLB/DE Khalil Mack (Buffalo)

6. ATL: OT Jake Matthews (Texas A&M)

7. TB: WR Mike Evans (Texas A&M)

8. MIN: QB Johnny Manziel (Texas A&M)

9. BUF: TE Eric Ebron (North Carolina)

10. JAX: QB Teddy Bridgewater (Louisville)

If you ask me personally, I prefer Johnny F'ing Football over Teddy Bridgewater, he just has more confidence and makes you exited about the game of football, but I'm okay with either quarterback. I do find it unfair too that the National Media is seemingly downgrading Teddy through these past few weeks, and I honestly almost got caught into the act myself. I also love the idea of getting Johnny/Teddy and taking some more picks along the way. What do you think about the idea of trading back in the first round? Do you think it is an option to do so? I'm down for it, the Jags need a quarterback and I want this slump to stop now (I mean what Jaguar fan doesn't?)! I will also add another full-on 256 pick mock draft on the way a couple days before draft day on May 8th. I swear Teddy is in the first round this time, I promise.

Until then, have an awesome day.
