Final 2014 Jaguars Mock Draft
Used First-Pick for the draft simulation. With that said, some players may fall or be taken earlier than likely, but I feel that represents the true variability that is present in the draft. Top 4 needs in my opinion, in order, are QB, interior OL, LEO/pass rush, and WR. If we didn’t have the free agency we did, I’d switch interior OL and pass rush, but gus and dave beefed up our front 7. Alas, here we go.
1 (3) The first two picks are Bortles to Houston and Clowney to St. Louis. For the third overall pick, Oakland is offering 1(5) and 3(67), Cleveland is offering 1(4) and a 7th round pick but F Cleveland, ATL is offering 1(6) and 3(68), St. Louis is offering 1(13), 2(44), and 3(75), and Detroit is offering 1(10) and 2(13). Because of the depth of the draft combined with jaguars various needs, and with my top 2 players gone, I opt to take Oakland’s offer and grab another early 3rd round pick to move 2 spots back. I would still have Manziel, Teddy, or Watkins available. The following 2 picks are Manziel to Oakland and somebody not Watkins to Cleveland. Based on my needs assessment,
1 (5) Teddy Bridgewater, QB Louisville
2 (39) Marcus Martin, C USC
3 (67) Jeremiah Attaochu, OLB Georgia Tech
3 (70) Martavius Bryant, WR Clemson
4 (105) David Yankey, G Stanford
4 (114) Chris Smith, DE Arkansas
5 (144) Mike Davis, WR Texas
5 (150) Jerick McKinnin, RB Georgia Southern
5 (159) Michael Schofield, OT Michigan
6 (179) Justin Ellis, DT Louisiana Tech
6 (205) Walt Aikens CB Liberty
7 (222) Tahj Boyd, QB Clemson
This gives us our franchise QB, young competent players who could contribute/start on OL immediately,, 2 large WRs, DL/pass rush help with a phenomenal LEO prospect, and other players to contribute on special teams. As always, thoughts below are welcomed.
