Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell spoke about the offseason on the team's weekly Thursday night radio show on 1010XL, but one thing that stood out was a point he made about head coach Gus Bradley, who's coaching on the last year of his contract in 2016.
"Gus' situation is very fluid," Caldwell said on 1010XL on Thursday night. "And just because [Gus] is heading into the offseason with one year left on his contract, that doesn't mean he'll coach next year with one year left on his contract."
What?
This could be Caldwell communicating one of two things:
1. He wants to downplay the fact that Gus is on the last year of his contract. There's really nothing good you could say and he might just want to put the question to rest.
2. Gus, who has 12 wins in three years, could very well sign a contract extension.
Of all the Jaguars tomfoolery we've endured since Gus arrived in 2013, a contract extension for a head coach averaging four wins a season through three years would be the coup de grâce.
