The Jacksonville Jaguars defensive line was a fickle thing in 2015.
With such a heavy reliance on Sen'Derrick Marks, the run game was inconsistent, but in Marks' absence several interior linemen -- most notably Abry Jones and Roy Miller -- stepped up and developed into legitimate starters. The pass rush, on the other hand, was very consistent... in that it was bad week in and week out.
Recap
As I said before, Jones and Miller were the standouts along the defensive line in 2015 which is not very good. They developed into strong run defenders and I hope Jones gets to see more than the 373 snaps he saw this year in 2016. Jared Odrick was good picking up the slack of a nonexistent pass rush and Marks' absence.
Tyson Alualu was fine, but he's not irreplaceable. Michael Bennett is a rotational guy. And Marks is... well, it's time to find Marks' replacement.
As far as the pass rusher, if the only guys who return are Ryan Davis and Dante Fowler, Jr. then I wouldn't even care.
Grade: D
Outlook
This position is getting a lot of attention this offseason. Andre Branch and Chris Clemons need to go. And if Chris Smith can't find a way to get snaps on a team with Branch and Clemons then he needs to go too. Sign free agents, draft at least one guy in the first three rounds, and raid other teams' practice squads. Just make this unit better.
