Jacksonville Jaguars running back Denard Robinson was involved in an accident early one morning a few weeks ago that left him and another passenger in their vehicle in a retention pond. At the time of the incident, Robinson was not given a citation or charged with anything, as well as no visible injuries to either person in the car. Robinson claimed he fell asleep at the wheel and veered off into the pond. No field sobriety test was administered at the time.
There was some question as to why Robinson wasn't even given a citation for careless driving, which led to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office to investigate the situation to find out what exactly happened. It appeared that it was an instance where there were no injuries and everyone was fine, so the officer sent everyone on their way.
On Thursday, Robinson was issued a $164 citation for careless driving by Sheriff Mike Williams.
Robinson and his passenger had to be assisted from the vehicle and out of the retention pond by the officer on the scene and neither person in the car seemed to have realized what had happened. The officer on the scene also indicated there were no skid marks to indicate Robinson tried to stop before going into the pond.
