The Jacksonville Jaguars hope to get back linebacker Daryl Smith after the bye week and in time for their matchup with the Oakland Raiders.

Daryl Smith has missed all five games of the regular season so far and isn't likely to practice during this week, with the bye on the horizon. Smith has been dealing with a groin injury he suffered during the Jacksonville Jaguars training camp and has been sidelined every since, with the Jaguars being cautious with the injury after a setback when Smith tried to work back too quickly during the preseason.

"We're hoping. We worked him again this morning," Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey told the media about Smith's return to the lineup. "Tom Myslinski worked him, and we're certainly hoping. I'm not going to say it's a definite, but we're going to be smart with him this week."

Adding Smith back to the Jaguars will certainly help, adding a player who's both good in coverage, stopping the run, and disrupting plays with the blitz.

"It's a possibility," Mularkey said. "I know he'd like to play."
