Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew has been ruled out of their Week 9 game against the Detroit Lions.

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew will be out of Week 9's game against the Detroit Lions, according to a tweet by John Oehser of Jaguars.com. In addition, head coach Mike Mularkey says that safety Dwight Lowery will also be out of next Sunday's game.

Jones-Drew was injured in the Jaguars' Week 7 loss to the Oakland Raiders. After further examination, it was determined that Jones-Drew did not have a Lisfranc fracture in his foot, which would have ended his season. Before his injury against the Raiders, Jones-Drew had rushed for 414 yards on 86 carries, averaging 4.8 yards per carry and a touchdown. He has also caught 14 passes for 86 yards and a touchdown.

Lowery has been recovering from an ankle injury that has kept him out since Week 5 against the Chicago Bears. Before the injury, he had recorded 15 solo tackles and three defended passes. The Jaguars play against the Detroit Lions next Sunday with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. The game will be televised on Fox.
