Despite losing both Maurice Jones-Drew and Blaine Gabbert to injuries in the first half of their Week 7 game against the Raiders, the Jaguars finished the first half with a 17-6 lead.

Before he went down with a shoulder injury suffered on a sack that was nullified by an offsides penalty, Gabbert hit Cecil Shorts III for a 42-yard touchdown that gave the Jaguars a 7-3 lead in the first quarter.

The Jaguars took advantage of some Raiders mistakes in the second quarter to extend that lead. First the Raiders muffed a punt inside their own 20 which set up a five-yard touchdown run for Rashad Jennings. Later, a Carson Palmer interception set up a 50-yard field goal for Josh Scobee.

While the Jaguars managed to successfully convert an onside kick attempt, the Jaguars turned the ball over on downs after Chad Henne threw a fourth down pass attempt out of bounds. The field position afforded to the Raiders resulted in a 33-yard field goal by Sebastian Janikowski to cut the Jaguars lead to 11.

Also injured in the first half was Jones-Drew, who left the game on a cart after suffering an ankle injury on his first carry of the game.
