Jaguars vs. Raiders 2012: Oakland team speed could be troublesome

The biggest concern on the Oakland Raiders offense for the Jaguars defense isn't just one player, but their total team speed.

While the Oakland Raiders defense only has one thing to worry about on the Jacksonville Jaguars offense in Maurice Jones-Drew, the Jaguars defense will have to worry about multiple players. It's not that the Raiders are loaded with playmakers, it's that they're loaded with speed.

"A fast team. It was fast before Dennis got there. That was just the philosophy for a lot of reasons in the franchise. It’s still a very fast team," Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey told reporters on Wednesday. "All three phases when I spoke to the team this morning that word ‘fast’ came up including special teams their core guys. There’s still guys that were there prior to Dennis showing up and they are definitely straight line vertical threats."

The finger prints of Al Davis is still all over the Raiders team, especially on offense, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. The Raiders have speed at wide receiver in Denarius Moore and Darrius Heyward-Bey. They have speed at running back in Darren McFadden, Mike Goodson, and Taiwan Jones. They also have a versatile fullback in Marcel Reece.

With the Jaguars defense banged up and without a lot of speed on the field, they're going to have to limit their mistakes in coverage else the Raiders offense will pick up massive chunks of yardage.
