Jacksonville Jaguars Camp Recaps
Jaguars Have to Cut to 80 Players By August 30th
The Jacksonville Jaguars roster is currently set at 90 total players. By August 30th, the Jaguars will need to trim 10 players off their roster, bringing the total to 80 total players. I'm not going to say I can cut the roster down to 53 just yet, but I think I can pinpoint some players who's roster positions aren't safe.
Jaguars close out camp, What did we learn?
The Jacksonville Jaguars are officially done with training camp for the 2011 NFL season. Opening day is only three weeks ago and we've learned a little bit about this team in the last few weeks.
Jaguars and Falcons Practice Observations
Last night the Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Falcons held a joint practice down at the Florida Blue practice fields. It was very interesting to see how practice played out with teams not going against players they're used to seeing everyday and it made for a more competitive and intense practice. One big observation that jumped out to me, was how good the Atlanta Falcons are. Not just on their front lines, either. They're deep.
You could tell from watching the two, there is a clear cut gap between the Falcons and the Jaguars. In virtually every area sans maybe runningback and tight end, the Falcons are markedly better.
Jaguars Patriots Preseason Recap: Defense
On Thursday night, Jacksonville Jaguars fans got to see their new look defense after free agency on the field in live action. It was a mix of both good and bad. The first defensive unit wound up forcing three fumbles, recovering one, and didn't really allow the Patriots to do a ton offensively... at least early on.
Jaguars Training Camp: Biggest Surprise
Now that the Jacksonville Jaguars training camp is closed and they get ready to head to the pre-season, we'll divy out some awards on who the biggest surprises of camp have been. The good surprises.

Jaguars Scrimmage: Gabbert Misses, Receivers Struggle
Jacksonville Jaguars rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert missed a chance to really show off during the annual scrimmage. On the first play of the scrimmage, the Jaguars ran their token deep pass to wide receiver Mike Thomas, but Gabbert threw the ball short and it was broken up incomplete. You could throw out the excuse that Gabbert hasn't worked a lot with these receivers and doesn't have their timing down, but the fact is the ball was underthrown. The night continued in that fashion somewhat for Gabbert, as he didn't shine but I wouldn't say he necessarily struggled, especially given the fact that he's a rookie going on just a weeks worth of work.
Stats wise in the scrimmage, Gabbert finished 12-of-27 for 76 yards and one touchdown. He was a victim however of four really bad drops.
Camping With FBT: Jaguars 8/5/11 PM Practice Report
The Jaguars took the field in front of a small crowd and without their starting quarterback on Friday evening. The practice marked the official return of MarcedesLewis to the lineup, which was a welcome sight.
The tempo of the practice was extremely laid back, with shells and shorts the attire of choice. The most significant thing about the session was the number of players who were nursing minor injuries and not participating.
Aaron Kampman, Maurice Jones-Drew, Terrence Knighton, Derek Cox, and Chris Prosinskidid not participate in practice. Other notables included Jason Hill, who had a bandaged shin on his left leg. It did not look serious. David Garrard was not on the practice fields for the session.
Matt Turk did dress out and spent the entire session stretching and working on holding for Scobee. He did not attempt to kick the ball at all, leaving those chores to newly acquired camp leg, Durant Brooks. The injury to Turk does not appear to be significant, and it appears the team is going to give him time to recover fully since the job is his.

Camping With FBT: Jaguars 8/4/11 Training Camp Report
It started out as a practice full of expectation with the new free agent acquisitions taking the field for the first time, and ended with concerns about the severity of an injury to the Jaguars first string quarterback, David Garrard. Fortunately, the team got good news on one front, and a hopeful prognosis on the other.
