Early Games Open Thread
Is there anything worse than a 4:00 game? I can't handle the anticipation. What games are you watching during the early slate? Who's having a great day for Fantasy Football? Which team is going to melt-down before week 8? (Buffalo, Dallas are my bets)

Meet Jeanne from BlackandTeal.com
Many of you may not know this but there is another fan based web site in town. It is run by Jeanne B and is called BlackandTeal.com. It is a nice site but it does have something we here at BCC don't, the absolute standout video blog Jeanne does each week recapping the game. Not only is she the best looking woman in the stands, she is the most passionate and knowledgeable. I've exchanged emails with her and she has agreed to let me post her video here on BCC for all of us. She is a wonderful person and I am glad to bring this feature. Enjoy the video and enjoy the game!

A letter to Mr.Weaver
Dear Mr.Wayne Weaver
The first time I ever heard anything about the Jacksonville Jaguars was when I was about 5 years old and in kindergarten. All I remember is my dad coming in and saying that he had gotten season tickets to my mom, who looked at him as if he had just said we were moving to Mars. I just kept thinking about the flyover at games and wondering if I would go deaf.
I was there when the Jaguars played the Rams and then the Houston Oilers in the inaugural game. I still have those Gameday magazines packed up in a box somewhere. I remember the extreme swing of emotions I felt in the 30 seconds it took Morten Anderson to line up for the field goal attempt and miss as I watched from our seats in section 245. I'll never forget being there to see Clyde Simmons block the field goal attempt and Bill Cowher spit on Chris Hudson as he returned it for a touchdown on the Jaguars first Monday Night Game. I was also there for the second half of the 1999 AFC Championship game and one of the only one's there in 2004 vs the Texans on Christmas (sadly, the last game I've been able to attend.)
I want to thank you for taking the time to write the letter you did. I know this year is going to be tough for the franchise, and the city in general. I'm a walking example of it, currently waiting to hear back from a potential employer I interviewed with last week. Either way, I still plan to make it to as many games as my financial situation will dictate. I know plenty of people, including in my own home, who have either lost their jobs or if they have been able to keep it, seen their hours reduced significantly.
That is why your re commitment to the city of Jacksonville is so refreshing. I know it must be tempting to see offers for the team, even knowing the moment the ink is dry the team would be making plans for a trip to LA. I believe Jacksonville has what it takes to support a NFL team, and your decision to have Gene Smith run the team only helps that. When these troubled economic times pass and more families can afford season tickets, they will be rewarded with a championship caliber team.
Once again, thank you, and let's keep this the best place on the web for the JACKSONVILLE Jaguars

The Absurdity of the 2009 Season has begun
Part of Big Cat Country's mission is to call out the absurd moments in football, Jaguar related or not. Here is what I have spotted as classic moments thus far in a season sure to be filled with classic absurdity.
1) Michael Crabtree considers the NFL stupid for not selecting him in the top five and now believes they should be even more stupid and pay him as if he was selected in the top five. Somehow Mike Singletary as his coach seems to be about what I would wish for Mr. Crabtree.
2) The Cincinnati Bengal fans who have formed an underground group called the WhoDeyRevolution. Here is the beginning of the WhoDey Manifesto:
• Preamble
IN THIS TIME of perpetual Cincinnati Bengals incompetence and futility, with zero playoff wins in the eighteen seasons since the WhoDeyRevolution Godfather, Paul Brown, passed away in 1991 and handed the team to his fortunate son, the Despot, Mike Brown;
Introduction
WE, the members of the Who Dey Revolution, in our fervent dedication to the Cincinnati Bengals and fanatical desire to transform our hometown team into perpetual Super Bowl contenders, call for a popular revolution.
They have a web site and collect funds to operate Project Mayhem, the staging of outlandish stunts to draw attention to their cause. The latest being a plane with a banner flying over the Bengal practice facility:
Since the Bengals are featured on "Hard Knocks", they are not amused. Of course, neither are their long suffering fans. Thankfully we got Gene Smith in place before it came to this.
3) The reader to Ask Vic that proposed Michael Vick is best placed in Cleveland with the Browns. The reason? He would have to face the Dawg Pound every home game. I've been in the Dawg Pound, Michael Vick would need rescued.
4) Al Davis in a big "screw you all" gesture overpays Darrius-Heyward-Bey by adding 20% to the outlandish contract given Sedrick Ellis last year. I'm sure Al Davis thought, as he signed the check, "call me crazy, now deal with this". The end result is no one above selection #13 can get their draft choices signed. Maybe the old man isn't crazy after all. The last I checked, the Raiders were making good money.
I am sure this is just the start, but we will be here to report on all of it.

BCC Weekend's Off-Topic Story: Jeremy's Reality

Last year Big Cat Country used to do a Saturday or Sunday off-topic piece during the lull of the offseason. As such, I thought I'd post a story that came to me one day, and I just had to write it. I hope you enjoy (the picture will make sense when you're reading the story)... Without further adieu...
