Jaguars Trent Edwards looking forward to the opporunity against Texans
With Jacksonville Jaguars David Garrard having surgery on his right middle finger this morning, the Jaguars announced yesterday that Trent Edwards will be the starting quarterback Sunday and beyond, if necessary (i.e. playoffs). For those who don't remember, Edwards was claimed off waivers when he was released by the Buffalo Bills and got some playing time against the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football when Garrard suffered a concussion. "I feel confident in him. I know he'll do a fine job," Garrard said of Edwards.
Jaguars game plan wasn't the problem against the Colts
Typically after a Jacksonville Jaguars loss, especially with one as important as the loss to the Colts on Sunday, you'll see a lot of knee-jerk hand wringing. That's natural as we're all fans and it's emotional for us. One thing that I've seen get criticized and I've gotten e-mails about is the play calling on Sunday. To be quite honest, I didn't really have any problems with the play calling. The only bad calls I can think of off the top of my head were the 4th and 1 at the 38, where David Garrard should have just checked to a quarterback sneak since the Colts left a gaping hole over center Brad Meester, but there were apparently headset problems. The other was running the option with a quarterback that has a tweaked hamstring. Maybe offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter saw Garrard rolling out and moving fine and Garrard insisted he could run it, but the one time it was ran, it resulted in a -12 yard play that was nearly a turnover deep in the Jaguars territory.
"They did a good job of stopping our run. Not too many times that will happen,' tight end Marcedes Lewis said after the game.

Defense is key for the Jaguars to beat the Colts
While the Jacksonville Jaguars will need to sustain long, time consuming touchdown drives as Brian Levenson wrote, the Jaguars defense will also need to play a vital role if they wish to dethrone the Colts and take hold of the AFC South. In their last meeting, Peyton Manning threw for 352 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receiver Reggie Wayne has 15 catches for 196 yards. While Manning and the Colts offense are going to get theirs on Sunday, there are a few key things the Jaguars can do defensively to seal a victory.
K.I.S.S. - Run the Ball, Stop the Run
Signing on and reading the content on BCC has been a tough thing for me to do this week. Seeing as I'm in college, the month of December is usually not the most fun of months because of big, bad finals. I'm sure I'm not the only person on BCC in this situation. When it comes to studying I always use a technique that my dad taught me a long time ago. He called it the K.I.S.S. theory. "Keep It Simple, Stupid." Basically the K.I.S.S. theory means don't make it more complicated than it has to be.
Attention Dirk Koetter, keep it simple, stupid.

Jaguars enter their house of horrors against the Titans
The Jacksonville Jaguars will travel to face the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, a place they haven't won since Quinn Gray was filling in for an injured David Garrard in 2007. Prior to that, they won there in 2005 under then starter Byron Leftwich. In fact, David Garrard has never won a game against the Titans as a starter at LP Field.
He's not the only one who struggles there, however.
Jaguars WR Mike Sims-Walker injury update: High ankle sprain.
According to Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union, the ankle injury Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Mike Sims-Walker suffered against the Houston Texans is a high ankle sprain. A high ankle sprain is typically a multi-week injury and given the fact that Sims-Walker didn't practice all last week would lead me to believe Sims-Walker will likely be out against the New York Giants this week.
Given what transpired on the offense on Sunday, this will be an injury to watch this week.
David Garrard set to throw franchise record touchdowns
Being one of David Garrard's harshest critics, I also consider myself fair. Garrard has played excellent in his last three of four ball games. He struggled on Monday Night Football against a very good Tennessee Titans defense and wound up leaving early with a concussion, but since coming back he's been playing at another level. Some will point to his 2007 season for comparison, but I don't think he's playing at the 2007 season level.
He's playing better.

Jaguars look to make it three in a row against Texans
When the Jacksonville Jaguars face off against the Houston Texans on Sunday, they'll look to make it three wins in a row against their division rival. A win on Sunday would also move the Jaguars ahead in the all-time series, which currently stands tied at 8-8. The Jaguars were able to sweep the Texans last season, beating them 31-24 in Houston and 23-18 at home in Jacksonville. Oddly enough, the win against Houston at home was the Jaguars last victory of the 2009 season, as they went on to lose four straight to close out the season.
