Post-Game Hangover.
I tell you this folks, my Mondays are so much better when I wake up after a win.
What happened? We didn't lose because of the penalty for celebrating. We diddn't lose because of a bad replay, and we certainly diddn't lose because of our passing attack. We lost because we got away from our principals. Jacksonville wins when it Runs the Ball and Stops the Run. We failed to do that and we failed to win an "easy" game.
This game is not without a few bright spots. Jacksonville showed a bit of offense. Byron ended with a 103.0 Passer Rating, one of his highest ever. Reggie Williams proved that he's a prototypical Run after Catch guy (Just like that other Run after Catch guy who burned us for 3 touchdowns. Actually, the passing offense is pretty much the only bright spot.
Our run game let us down, but we only attempted to run 13 times. You don't dominate the clock when you abandon the run.
Defense, on the other hand, needs to be put on the watch list.
Here's why
DO NOT GO FOR THE INTERCEPTION WHEN YOU'RE DEALING WITH FAST MOBILE WR'S WHO HAVE ALREADY BURNED YOU TWICE IN THE SAME GAME
Deon Grant and Brian Williams need to chill out and make the pass defense not blow the INT grab and let a big play through. The Skins were challanging them all day and we lost.
Bad, Bad, Bad.
The fact that Clinton Portis was the first RB to get a hundred or more yards on us in awhile I blame on the nagging injuries to our D-line. We couldn't do our normal rotation of guys so we got worn down. The Skins spread the field with screen plays and wore our guys down so Portis could do his magic.
That can be fixed, some time and some rest and we'll be back in true form.
If we can get our Defense from week 2, our Run game from week 3 and our passing game from week 4 all on the field on the same frigging week, we're unstopable. But we MUST get more consistant.
Thats all for now, more to come...

The safety
The Jags will still be in it. I have no doubts.

Redskins Offense: now more opener!
Offensively, I saw what having Clinton Portis in there does to defenses. It forces them back a little, can't be so attacky. Be still my heart but I think I saw Mark Brunell look downfield a few times!
I think this game says more about the Redskins improvement than problems with the Jaguars. Scoring 30 and still winning? That's crazytalk. Joe Gibbs likes 10-7 a heck of a lot more than 36-30.
A good game, and tough luck for the Jaguars. Colts are casting a long shadow on both the Jaguars and Redskins. Stampede Blue, see you on October 22.
