Jaguars Owner Rebuffed sales pitch from Los Angeles groups

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been sold but don't expect them to move to Los Angeles anytime soon.

St. Louis reporter Howard Balzer on Mike Sims-Walker (quoting a "Jaguars insider")

Asked for insight on Sims-Walker, a Jaguars insider said, "He can't beat press coverage off the line of scrimmage and he also whines if they don't throw to him even if they win. He doesn't want to take the blame when he doesn't make a catch and he has a bad knee. "One of (general manager) Gene Smith's mantras is ‘Know your own team’ and if he doesn't think he can play, I would be leery of him. Maybe for the minimum or incentives. "He also missed curfew last year, supposedly out all or most of the night with a woman and was suspended for the game. He had 18 of his catches in two blowouts, 10 in a loss to San Diego and eight in a win over Dallas. In no other game did he have more than four. "A year ago he surprised people, but once they studied him, they were able to shut him down." ----------------------------------------------------------------- Just food for thought.

Thomas also will receive the minimum salaries of $310,000, $385,000, $480,000 and $565,000. Thomas was drafted in the fourth round by the Jaguars. The other player that was previously signed was sixth-round pick Zach Miller, a quarterback being converted to tight end. Thomas, who played at Arizona, is noted for his speed. He ran a 4.29 40-yard dash at the combine. "He’s eager to get started and be the guy in the slot and to be a return guy for them,’’ his agent, Ronald Slavin, said. The slot job is open now that Dennis Northcutt has been traded to the Lions. Thomas dropped to the fourth round because he’s 5-8, but Maurice Jones-Drew wasn’t hampered by being 5-7 in the pros. Slavin also noted he’s a 200-pounder with good lower body strengt

"The Jacksonville Jaguars are offering local businesses free advertising to help increase profits during these hard times. It's fast, easy and free. All that's required is a valuable offer for Jaguars Season Ticketholders, such as: Buy one entrée get a second one 1/2 off, or 25% off of your next dry cleaning bill."
