FREE NFL FIELDPASS!?
Im not sure if the NFL has lost their mind, but for some reason they are giving away a limited number of NFL Field Pass memberships totally FREE.
I signed up and went through the process as if Id paid for it but it never asked for credit card or anything....it even created a reciept for $0.00......maybe everyone who is a "non-local" Jags fan should hit NFL.COM and take advantage of this.

Big Cat Country Scores w/Vic Ketchman....AGAIN!
I'm sure many of you read Vic's column, but for those who didn't Vic has AGAIN allowed another mention of BigCatCountry.com to appear in his column.
Talk about plum promotion! I think Vic actually likes the site and is willing to throw it a bone or two. This is begining to show the legitimacy and hard, honest work of the editor, and writers as well as the fans who make this site the exploding mecca of all things Jaguar!
THANKS VIC!

Sportsline Disqualifies Raiders Fans and Jaxson De Ville for Cheating!
| [Note by River City Rage, 06/17/08 4:23 PM EDT ]: What a disaster. I'll tell you this, Jaxson is smiling at the way this all played out. Sure, we ended up "losing", but it was certainly an amusing process. There's not much for Jaguars fans to fight about during this very long dead zone, so I thank Raider Nation for providing us with such amusement. Also, thanks to all the readers of BCC who kept us up to date. I can tell you that I had nothing to do with any cheating, but not for lack of trying... |
No. 2 Jacksonville vs. No. 7 Raiders

Editor's Note: Both teams have been eliminated from the competition for conduct detrimental to the integrity of the Mascot Competition.

Sportsline resets poll due to Cheating!
CBSSportsline has issued a "re-do" on the Fiercest Mascot Voting competition between Jaxson DeVille and the Raider Nation.
This is what they have posted at the current time, and they have not reposted the actuall poll as of 12:30pm EST. :
Note: Since there has been cheating on both sides, we are giving fair warning and another chance to redeem yourselves. The poll has been reset with 24 hours left to submit your votes.
Let's keep this a fun competition.
And that folks is a direct quote. I hope that the Raiders Fans get the message here and that they dont restart this war.
I hope that we will all keep close watch on this and VOTE VOTE VOTE!!!!!

Let's Make Big Cat Country Explode!
As many of you may have noticed, BCC is getting a lot more traffic and hits lately now that the Jags are the talk of the league as a potential pre-season Super Bowl Contender.
I have become so addicted to this site its almost my home page at this point. Though mainly I dont comment a whole helluva a lot, Chris and Collin know who I am by this time Im pretty sure! lol
I want to see who would like to help me take up a project in making BCC's popularity explode beyond Chris and Collin's wildest dreams!
Chris and Collin dedicate a major portion of their time in making this site what it is and I think a lot of people would appreciate if they just knew about BCC.
If we all work together we can spread the word about BCC in many ways....for example:
Place a signature in every email you send out...mine says:
World Renowned Psychic Predicts 2008 Super Bowl Winner...
Make Big Cat Country your # 1 Top Friend on your Myspace, Facebook etc...
I want to hear your ideas and see how many people would be interested in driving a free to maybe low cost promotional campaign as a way of saying thank you to BCC!
If you are interested, give me a comment or suggestion and toss me an email at j1g13 at Yahoo dot com
Can I count on your help?

Harvey "Presser" is Revealing....
I like the pick of Derrick Harvey for the Jags.
I think that if all goes well and as planned, this defense might kill somebody..it's just nasty.
When the Jaguars.com site finally got its act together and allowed me to read the transcript of Harveys press interview right after his selection, I began to wonder whether or not Harvey isnt very happy about being drafted by the Jaguars.
Now as we all know, all the players are inculcated into saying the "right" things and spouting the "party line" about their team and how much they love it and how excited they are etc..etc...(except for a few notable misogynistic miscreants like T.O. and company) and frankly that kind of crap always bores me. So when a player doesnt spout the party line it is revealing.
We may have another Eli Manning (read spoiled brat) on our hands with this pick.
His very first question and answer is one time he doesnt spout the party line and it is as follows:
(on being drafted by the Jaguars) “I was watching the draft with my family and I saw the Jacksonville Jaguars come up and I was like, ‘Oh, Jacksonville.’ I kind of figured they were going to pick me because they needed a defensive end.”
Now maybe Im reading this wrong..but I find there to be a lack of excitement in his answer. His reaction to being drafted by the Jaguars is "Oh, Jacksonville."
That's kind of like getting another tie on fathers day "Oh another tie." See my point? There is a glaring lack of excitement and that bothers me. Will Derricks head be in the game since he now "has to" play for Jacksonville?
The rest of the interview he begins to spout the party line until this question and answer:
(on his expectations as a rookie) “I am going to come in for the offseason program, work hard and get in the weight room, learn the plays, get with my defensive line coach, get with the head coach and some of the veteran players and just learn the system. Just come in and contribute. Whatever my role will be, special teams, defensive end, it doesn’t matter. I am just trying to help the Jacksonville Jaguars win more games than they did last year.”
In this one...he spouts all the right things til he finishes with the statement that I have in italics. Winning more games than last year would make the Jags 12-4 and not necessarily a Super Bowl winner. Most guys would have said something along the lines of "I want to contribute and help the Jags take it to the next level" or "I cant wait to get down there and do my small part to make the Jags a super bowl contender"
The answer is revealing in the fact that perhaps Derrick has no real motivation for being a Jaguar, especially when you combine this with his answer to the first question, "Oh, Jacksonville"
I hope he doesnt carry this atitude into training camp, because we dont need a player coming in and screwing up the chemistry this team has developed.
Derrick if your hearts not into being a Jaguar, you'll do more harm than good. Find an injury and stick with it on IR so the rest of the team can do their thing. We dont need a bad atitude or poor motivation bringing this Championship Caliber team down, cuz I guarantee you Quentin Groves wants to be a Jaguar and will be going "lights out" to prove it.
Groves was thrilled to be selected by the Jaguars.
"Man, this is everything I could have dreamed of," he said
So who is more motivated to play for the Jags? .....you tell me!

David Garrard signs Contract Extension: 6 years, 60 Million!
[editor's note, by River City Rage]: I'm on the road right now, so this is a bit stale. Thanks Freek1969 for posting this!
David's contract is fantastic. It's good for the team and it's good for David. Fantastic! I'll be back in full force tomorrow![End Note]
WOW! 6 year deal worth $60 million dollars...$20 million of it is guaranteed...just under Tony Romo's $28 million guaranteed. he was asking for Romo kind of money and he came pretty darn close, though Romo totally turned the Cowboys franchise aroun.
Do we all think that Garrard is truly worth that in the long run?
Do we draft a QB and have him sit behind Garrard for a few years?

3 Cheers for Big Cat Country
I started this as a way to say "thank you" to Chris for keeping us up to date on all things Jaguars since the season ended.
I have found Chris and the information he digs up to be so compelling and timely, that now I stop here at big cat country FIRST before even going to the jaguars web site.
Keep up the awesome work Chris....and I hope everyone who appreciates what he has accomplished will post a little thank you note here as well.
Job Well Done!
