In what can only be described as shoddy reporting, rumor site Profootballtalk.com (or PFT) has reported that Jerry Porter sustained a hamstring injury and may be hampered for about a month...
I'm sorry, but there haven't even been any OTA's in weeks. We all knew that Porter got hurt early on in OTA's and it was reported as a hamstring injury at the time. It makes no sense to think that Porter has somehow re-injured the hamstring when he hasn't even participated in anything since the last hammy pull. In all likelihood, this is just PFT being PFT; reporting stories that are completely un-substantiated. In this case, all they would've had to do is a quick google search to see this injury is weeks old already. Ignore this story... It just isn't accurate.
RUMORS FLY OF JERRY PORTER INJURY
Posted by Mike Florio on July 18, 2008, 4:59 p.m. EDTThere are rumors on the NFL grapevine that Jaguars receiver Jerry Porter might have a hamstring injury, which might keep him out for a month, or longer.
It’s just a rumor at this point. We’ve got no corroboration or verification or any of the other stuff that separates “real” media from joints like this.
It could be right, it could be wrong. But since it involves a fairly innocuous subject (unlike, for example, a rumor that Porter or, say, Terry Bradshaw had died), we’ve got no qualms about putting it out there.
Porter was a high-profile free-agent acquisition of the Jags. He spent his entire career prior to that with the Raiders.
