Jaguars sign Chevis Jackson

According to Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union via Twitter, the Jacksonville Jaguars have signed defensive back Chevis Jackson. There was an open roster position with the departure of safety Anthony Smith.

Jackson played college football at LSU. He was originally drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the 3rd round of the 2008 NFL draft. He was released by the Falcons in 2010 in the wave of final cuts. He played 32 games for the Falcons, starting a total of three.

Interesting note, his nickname given to him by former teammate and Jaguar Mike Peterson, is "Baby Blue Jazz Hands McCarthy".
