Over the last couple of weeks, the general vibe on BCC has been growing ever more hostile. Granted, considering the Jaguars on the field performance as of late, no one can blame you for wanting to let out a little steam. However, I think we've passed from letting out steam and I think it's time to lasso things back in for a bit. The Golden Rule of BCC has always been "Before you hit post, would you say the same thing in person, without the anonymity and privacy of the internet?" and that will never change.

1. NO SWEARING

Going back to when Chris first founded BCC back in the stoneage of 2006, this was the #1 rule to abide by. This is for a variety of reasons, but mainly two. #1. It drags the entire comment field down a bit and #2. It puts BCC in greater risk of getting blocked by firewalls and downgraded by Google bots. Common euphemisms are fine, but the goal for this site has always to be as family friendly as possible.

Swearing in gamethreads should be kept to a minimum, but is acceptable. Anything outside of that from this point on will result in a warning, and then will result in increasingly longer timeouts after that.

2. Personal Attacks

Disagreements are fine. They're what makes sites like this one go round. However, what is increasing is name calling and outright spite. As always, attack the idea not the person. No one has ever, or will ever, be banned from BCC for stating their opinion.

3. Hold the High Ground

There is a reason the phrase "Don't Feed The Troll" exists. If a Titans or Colts fan comes on here to start something, or another talking head displays their ignorance of Jacksonville either ignore them or bury them with sound arguments. Don't go down to their level.

4. Be Kind to Each Other

At the end of the day, we're all Jaguar fans here. It may not be the best time to be Jags fans, but that doesn't give anyone license to act like a jerk to others.
