According to Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network, the Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed to a new contract with defensive coordinator Mel Tucker. Tucker had drawn interest from some teams looking for a defensive coordinator. Tucker, like the rest of the Jaguars assistants, was on a one-year contract. Jack Del Rio had said he wouldn't stop assistants for looking for work elsewhere, and Tucker was rumored to be a candidate for the San Diego Chargers and Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator positions. The terms of the contract are unknown at this time. Mel Tucker was named official defensive coordinator this off-season after being it in name only. Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver stripped Jack Del Rio of his defensive play calling.
