A report surfaced earlier today that Jacksonville Jaguars defensive line coach Joe Cullen was going to interview for the Oakland Raiders defensive coordinator position. The initial report cited a tweet by NFL Network's Jason La Canfora, who's generally very reliable, but said tweet apparently does not exist. Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Times Tribune reported the initial story of the Raiders interest in Joe Cullen.
However, Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union tweets that isn't the case.
This afternoon the Oakland Tribune said #Jaguars d-line coach Joe Cullen is a candidate for #Raiders DC. But... The report quoted NFL Network's LaCanfora's Twitter as saying Cullen will interview for the job, but LaCanfora never Tweeted that. #Jaguars
Now, I haven't been able to find out one way or the other but it is pretty clear that Jerry McDonald is quoting Jason La Canfora, but the tweet doesn't seem to exist. It's very possible that La Canfora deleted it, but I would think he'd have mentioned that fact by now.
UPDATE: Jason La Canfora confirmed to me on Twitter that he reported nothing of the sort in any capacity.
