The Jacksonville Jaguars and Pittsburgh Steelers typically play very good games against one another. In fact, the Jaguars are one of only three AFC teams that have a winning record against the Steelers, the others being the Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos. One big reason the Jaguars have had such success against the Steelers in recent history is because of the play of cornerback Rashean Mathis. For his career, Mathis has killed the Steelers.
In the 2008 loss to the Steelers, Mathis picked off quarterback Ben Roethlisbergerand returned the ball 72-yards for a touchdown. In the 2007 Jaguars playoff win against the Steelers, Mathis picked off Roethlisberger twice and returned one of them for a touchdown. In the 2006 Monday Night Football 9-0 victory (one of the best games I've ever been to) Mathis picked off Roetherlisberger two more times. Back in 2005, Mathis picked off then quarterback Tommy Maddox and returned it 41-yards for a touchdown.
So, in five match ups with the Steelers including the playoffs, Mathis has picked off the Steelers a total of six times. He's returned three of those for touchdowns.
