A tweet from Fox Sports's Jay Glazer revealed that former Jaguars QB David Garrard is unavailable for teams due to a herniated disc in his back that requires immediate surgery.
Later tweets from Glazer indicated that this is the same injury that he suffered in training camp with the Jaguars and that an MRI revealed a L4-L5 herniation. The second opinion that led to his decision to have surgery to repair the disc was one that he didn't receive until today, per ESPN's Chris Mortenson.
The surgery will effectively end any chance of Garrard signing with a team this season and at 33 years old, could be enough to end his career in the NFL.
