Derek Cox Injury: Jaguars Place Corner On IR

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced today that cornerback Derek Cox will be placed on injured reserve with a knee injury. Cox suffered the injury against the Cleveland Browns and was limited on practice on Wednesday, missing yesterday and today. Cox had missed time earlier in the season after having an abdominal injury he suffered in Week 1. Cox will be replaced in the lineup by Ashton Youboty, who was signed last week. Youboty split reps with cornerback William Middleton, who was filling in for Rashean Mathis.

The Jaguars have now lost both of their starting cornerbacks for the season. The Jaguars defense has suffered a slew of injuries the past few weeks and likely will be without 5 defensive starters against the Houston Texans. To replace Cox on the roster, the Jaguars have signed quarterback Dan Lefevour off of the Indianapolis Colts practice squad. Lefevour was brought in for a workout by the Jaguars during the bye weeks.
