The Jacksonville Jaguars are being sold today, according to Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter of ESPN. This has been in speculation for quite a while around town, but Wayne Weaver has always denied that the team was for sale. There were rumors a few weeks ago that FedEx CEO Fred Smith was in the running to buy the franchise, but that was squashed by the team.
Part of the report as well is that the team will stay in Jacksonville. Again, this is no surprise for anyone who has actually looked into the situation. I will have more on the story as it develops and who the new owner will be. The Jaguars will have a press conference at noon, as they are expected to announce the firing of Jack Del Rio and the news of the team's sale.
