In his first press conference since being officially approved by NFL owners to be the new owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Shahid Khan expressed his commitment to the city of Jacksonville and his desire to produce a successful team. Khan got straight to the point during his press conference saying, "I am totally committed to Jacksonville" very early in his address to the media.
Khan wasn't particularly revealing about what his role will be as an owner and how involved he plans on being, but he said he wants to do "whatever it takes to put a winner on the field." Khan also said that he's "fanatical enough to know what I shouldn't be doing" and that he knows when he should step out of the way of those who do.
During Wayne Weaver's time at the podium he said the new coaching search will be a collaborative process and that some work has already been done by Weaver and Gene Smith to look at the coaching market and potential candidates. Weaver said he plans on meeting with Khan this weekend and they will continue to work together to evaluate potential fills for the coaching vacancy.
