Jaguars release LB Michael Lockley, sign two players to active roster

The Jaguars announced a few roster moves today to address the holes left by defensive end Matt Roth and cornerback Ashton Youboty heading to injured reserve yesterday. The team announced the release of undrafted rookie linebacker Michael Lockley from the team.

Lockley joined the team as an undrafted free agent and was released at the end of training camp, but was signed to the practice squad. He remained on the practice squad until Nov. 8 when he was promoted to the active roster. Lockley still has plenty of practice squad eligibility so if he doesn't get claimed the Jaguars could make room to re-sign him in that regard.

To fill the two active roster slots, the Jaguars announced the signing of cornerback Trumaine McBride and defensive end Jammie Kirlew. Kirlew, a 7th round draft pick by the Broncos in 2010, was signed to the Jaguars practice squad on Dec. 9. He has played in one career game, but has never recorded a tackle. McBride was a 7th round pick of the Bears in 2007 and has started in 10 games and played in 47 during his career.

The moves bring the Jaguars active roster back to 53, the practice squad to just two and the injured reserve to 25.
