The Jaguars and the Chargers have only played each other four times. The Jaguars won both games played in Jacksonville and the Chargers won both games in San Diego. This is much more than a coincidence though, as the two teams struggles on cross country trips go beyond their games against each other.

The Jaguars are 2-6 all-time in the Pacific Time Zone, having only had to play eight games there in their 17 season history. In that same time period, the Chargers have played in the Eastern Time Zone 53 times, posting a 21-32 record. Both teams are on three game losing streaks on the opposite coast. In fact, the sole victory that the Chargers have in the state of Florida over the last 17 years was when they beat the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay in December of 2008.

The reasons why geography make an impact on NFL games are certainly debatable, but the stats certainly indicate that there is a trend beyond coincidence. The trip to Jacksonville for the Chargers will be an advantage for the Jaguars.
