Rumor: Dirk Koetter A Candidate For Kansas?

New, comments

I cannot confirm this, however I am hearing that Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter is a finalist for the Kansas head coaching vacancy. I am told that it is believed that the school would like to nail down their decision in the next 48 hours. This shouldn't come as much of a surprise, as Koetter's contract with the Jaguars expires at the end of the season and he's unlikely to be back with the team. I'm not one to normally post "out there" rumors, but this is something that I've heard multiple times.

This would not be the first time Koetter would have attempted to get a position somewhere else. Last season, Koetter was a candidate to interview for the St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator position, but the Jaguars blocked the move. Dirk Koetter also interviewed for the Denver Broncos head coaching position, and reportedly was heavily considered for the position. Koetter has past college experience, holding head coaching jobs at both Boise State and Arizona State before making his way to the NFL in 2007.
