2011 NFL Draft Profile: Ryan Kerrigan

Alfie's Player Ranking 23 out of 100
Projected Round: 1

Today continues my countdown to the Top 100 draftable players of the 2011 NFL Draft. We move on to my 23rd ranked player, Purdue defensive end Ryan Kerrigan.

Height: 6-4

Weight: 260lbs

PROS: Very productive pass rusher, had 30 ½ sacks as a three year starter. Has good arm length for the position and has strong hands that let him disengage. Shows good change of direction skills and good short area quickness. Makes plays in the backfield often. Disruptive pass rusher who can collapse the pocket and force the quarterback to rush his throws. Team captain, tied for the All-Time fumbles forced record, and a high motor player.

CONS: Size is a concern at every downs defensive end. Some view as a 3-4 outside linebacker. Not really that explosive off the snap, gets his sacks off of relentless motor and coverage sacks. Plays high and can get washed out of plays because of it.  Some minor injury concerns. His 30½ sacks came in bunches, had 12½ of them in only 4 games.
