2011 NFL Draft Profile: Adrian Clayborn

Alfie's Player Ranking 19 out of 100
Projected Round: 1

Today continues my countdown to the Top 100 draftable players of the 2011 NFL Draft. We move on to my 19th ranked player, Iowa defensive end Adrian Clayborn.

Height: 6-4

Weight: 295 lbs

PROS: Excellent size for the end position in a 4-3 or a 3-4. Very good athlete for his size with good change of direction skills. Good quickness and can bull rush most offensive tackles. Disruptive in the running game with an ability to hold and attack the point blowing up running plays the the outside. Can scrape down the line to make plays on the other side of the field. Gets off his blocks well and makes textbook wrap up tackles. Plays with a mean streak and looks to hit people. Well respected team leader and was on Iowa’s leadership council his final three seasons.

CONS: Questionable explosiveness and overall speed off the edge. Might be only a LDE in a 4-3 scheme. Had an isolated incident two years ago where he plead guilty to disorderly conduct after punching a cab driver in traffic. Had a tendency to gas late in games his final season at Iowa. His production severely dropped in the 2010 season from 2009. Has some medical concerns, was born with Erb's Palsy that could scare some teams. One arm is shorter than the other because of it.
