Alfie's Player Ranking 17 out of 100
Projected Round: 1

Today continues my countdown to the Top 100 draftable players of the 2011 NFL Draft. We move on to my 17th ranked player, Georgia linebacker/defensive end Justin Houston.

Height: 6-3

Weight: 258lbs

PROS: Size fits him perfect to play 3-4 outside linebacker. Weight room wonder who’s also powerful on the football field. Gets off the snap of the ball quickly and plays with good discipline. Won’t run himself out of plays and will keep contain. Has experience at defensive end and outside linebacker. Strong work ethic that resonates with his teammates and in the locker room.

CONS: Minor character concerns with a 2009 suspension for “team rules”. Struggles when dropping deeper into coverage, more likely strickly a “rush” backer in an NFL 3-4 defense. While he’s played both end and linebacker, only 1 year of experience as a stand up linebacker. Tends to give up on a play when it’s too far from him and can take poor angles.
