2011 NFL Draft Profile: Julio Jones

Alfie's Player Ranking out of 100
Projected Round: 1

Today continues my countdown to the Top 100 draftable players of the 2011 NFL Draft. We move on to my 9th ranked player, Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones.

Height: 6-3

Weight: 220lbs

PROS: Fantastic size for a wide receiver. Knows how to use his size to shield smaller defensive backs and get proper position to catch the football. Very tough receiver who’s not afraid to and excels at working the middle of the football field. Very good route runner who knows how to find the soft spots in zone coverage. Fantastic run blocker who knows how to block downfield to spring the runningback.

CONS: Despite his 40-yard dash time, top end speed is a big question mark. Not a burner wide receiver on film, but can get open. Wasn't a big down the field threat, but a lot of scouts believe that was due a lot to the offense he played in at Alabama. Disappears in games sometimes. Despite his size he often doesn’t correctly time his jumps for the football. Tends to be a body catcher and doesn’t often use his hands to catch the football.
