Alfie's Player Ranking 3 out of 100
Projected Round: 1
Today continues my countdown to the Top 100 draftable players of the 2011 NFL Draft. We move on to my 3rd ranked player, Georgia wide receiver A.J. Green.
Height: 6-4
Weight: 211lbs
PROS: Green is an athletic wide receiver with great size. With his 6-4 frame, he’s able to use his size and leverage to beat defensive backs for the football. He’s also a fantastic leaper, displaying over and over again his ability to go up for the football and come down with the catch. Green has a nice burst off the line of scrimmage and can beat press coverage at the college level. Has an ability to take over a football game. Green has soft hands and does not drop many footballs. Once the ball is in Green’s hands, he has the ability to get yards after the catch and break tackles.
CONS: Green’s biggest flaw is his route running. Due to his natural ability he has a tendency to round off his routes. As well as needing to work on his route running at the next level, Green may need to add some muscle to his thin frame. He may need to add around 10 pounds of muscle to put up with the beating players take at the NFL level. His run blocking at the wide receiver position is also below average, but that can be worked on and improved. There are minor off the field concerns, as Green was suspended for four games for selling his jersey to an agent.
