2011 NFL Draft Profile: Jeron Johnson - Boise State, S

New, comments

Height: 5-10

Weight: 212lbs

PROS: Good size for the NFL safety position. Good enough bulk to play the strong and enough speed to play the free. Very good production in college all four years. Physical player who can hit with a strong upper body. Does a good job directing the defense and excels in man coverage. Very fluid in coverage.

CONS: Route recognition and instincts leave a bit to be desired. Struggles play in a deep zone, better at manning up with a tight end or slot receiver. Needs to wrap up better when tackling, tends to leave his feet too often to try and blow up the offensive player. Can get blocked out of plays by bigger players and won't be properly utilized if he's asked to play in the box and close to the line of scrimmage. Still a raw player who has high upside with the proper coaching.
