2011 NFL Draft Profile: David Carter - UCLA, DL

Getty Images

Height: 6-4

Weight: 297lbs

PROS: Good athlete on the defensive line with very versatile size and skill set. Collapses the pocket well and gets in the backfield very often, disruptive. Has long arms that can disrupt passing lanes. Can handle double teams and still generate pressure. Reacts well and shows good instincts in finding and following the football. Can play as a 3-4 defensive end or a 4-3 defensive tackle. Had a dominant week of practice at the East/West Shrine Game.

CONS: His pass rush repertoire needs to be worked and developed. Overall powering is lacking and beats double teams mostly with his quickness. Doesn’t always play up to his skill level and was only productive at UCLA for one season. When he plays up to his potential he can be a dominant player on the line of scrimmage and attack the pocket. Relative unknown at UCLA until his final season.
